The Caribbean

The Caribbean is a region that every member of our team loves. We all have our personal favourites but one thing that we all agree on is that whilst the beaches and turquoise sea are a big draw, what keeps us going back is the island spirit – although the islands are different, the warmth and genuine friendliness of the locals is guaranteed to put you at ease meaning you can truly embrace the passion each island holds.

St Lucia

The island of islands, St Lucia offers pretty much every type of holiday escape. Beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, lush rainforests and rugged mountains – this picture perfect island is more than just a place to relax. White knuckle activities on the island include hiking, biking, zip lining and white water rafting or if you are water baby, water sports of every type imaginable and some of the finest diving and snorkelling in the entire Caribbean are right on your doorstep. Accommodation ranges from mountain top resorts offering un paralleled views to vast villa style complexes or even the more boutique traditional style properties offering the very best of St Lucian hospitality.

Barbados

Barbados has been luring visitors of all descriptions for decades with its platinum beaches, quaint British style towns and villages, wide range of accommodation from luxury hotels, to smaller apartment complexes or even your own villa located in the rural regions and not to mention some of the best golf courses in the world. From the legendary Friday night fish fry at Oistins to the quintessential afternoon tea served at Sandy Lane, Barbados has one of the most varied dining scenes of any Caribbean island.

Antigua

Sun worshippers are drawn to the island for its 365 beaches (that’s a different beach every day of the year!), history buffs love wandering around the colonial Nelsons Dockyard and English Harbour whilst the party lover heads to Shirley Heights. Antigua really does have something for everyone. It is also the gateway for some of the smaller islands of the Caribbean such as St Barths and Anguilla which makes it the perfect option for a two centre (or more!) holiday.

Thames Travel’s Thoughts: Every member of staff has travelled extensively in the Caribbean and between us have visited over 20 islands. Ben loves the island of Canouan for its secluded luxury, Christian loves Barbados for its excellent restaurants, Mirella is a fan of St Lucia for the island vibes and Claire enjoys nothing more than island hopping in St Vincent & the Grenadines. For inspiration and suggests on island and hotel, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
